Doha, Qatar: With the participation of dozens of students, the organising committee of the Qatar International Arabic Calligraphy Competition “Al-Raqeem” continues to hold its educational and introductory workshops on Arabic calligraphy.

The sessions have witnessed strong interaction from students, in coordination between the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center, and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

The committee’s focus on organising these activities aims to instil values and strengthen the connection of young generations with Arabic calligraphy, which represents a core element of the nation’s identity.

The workshops were held at Abi Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah Preparatory School and Omar bin Al-Khattab Secondary School (may Allah be pleased with them).

Students showed great enthusiasm and interest in Arabic calligraphy and its history. A representative of the competition spoke about the history of calligraphy, the associated arts, and their link to identity, heritage, and history.

The teachers and administrations of both schools expressed great appreciation for the workshop’s content, emphasising the importance of Arabic calligraphy in enhancing students’ language skills, strengthening their connection to the Arabic language and Islamic identity, and promoting moral values among youth.
