Nine well-known Filipino artistes have come together for a concert for a cause dubbed ‘Teleserye Bida’ on October 31 at Al Gharafa Sports Club Stadium.
Organisers L’Arc En Ciel Events said part of the concert’s proceeds will benefit two Filipino paediatric cancer patients Xander Reyes and Dominique Havanna Noot.
The concert features five of the Philippines’ hottest male actors and screen idols—Enchong Dee, Gerald Anderson, Rayver Cruz, Xian Lim, and Enrique Gil— with the special participation actress and performer Maja Salvador together with guests, Viva Hotbabes, Gwen Garci and Jennifer Lee and comedian Boobay.
These five male artists are known collectively as Teleserye Bida, because they star in top-rating Philippine television series that are avidly followed by the Filipino community around the world through The Filipino Channel (TFC).
Viva Hotbabes and Boobay will sing, dance and do stand-up comedy during the show which will run for three hours without opening acts by local artists.
“I would like to give the Filipino community viewers a concert that is jam-packed with celebrities whom I am sure they will enjoy,” said Madam Mariam Al Fadaaq, General Manager of the L’Arc En Ciel.
RV Francis, lead promoter of the concert, said he did not think twice when he was told of the purpose of the show which is to support the Filipino community here.
“In this event, you will not only enjoy watching the show but at the same time you will be able to help too,” said Francis.
The organizers are urging the Filipino community to support the show as part of the proceeds will be donated to three-year-old Filipino pediatric cancer patients Reyes and Noot in cooperation with the Qatar Red Cresent Society.
“We are really looking for sponsors to aid the transplant and medication of Xander and Dominique that’s why we run many drives and campaigns. My deep gratitude to the event organizer who has initiated this campaign and has considered the children as one of their beneficiaries,” said Rodrigo ‘Roii’ Edulan, Leader and Head of the San Pedro Calungsod Filipino Community.
The Philippine Embassy is also in full support of this concert. According to Ambassador Crescente Relacion, it is commendable for the producers to conduct an event with a greater cause and the desire not just to provide entertainment to Filipinos but the will and desire to help those who are in need.
Meanwhile, United Filipino Organization in Qatar Chairperson, Frank Jamandre said the objectives of the event are clear and he will encourage the Filipino organizations under his umbrella to support this event.
