Frankfurt, Germany: A collision between two goods trains in Germany killed a railway worker involved in overnight shunting operations, the Munich fire brigade said on Saturday.

The force of the collision forced two freight wagons off a bridge onto a major road below, they said.

Emergency workers discovered the body of the fatally injured man when they went to cordon off the road under and around the bridge.

Several cars parked on the side of the road were badly damaged by the falling freight wagons or pieces of wreckage.

A coach travelling along the road under the bridge at the time of the collision was hit by a falling object.

The only person on board the bus was the driver, who escaped unharmed, the fire brigade said.

Police have launched an investigation into the causes of the collision.
