Cairo: Speaker of the Shura Council H E Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim underlined the firm position of the State of Qatar, under the leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on the Palestinian cause, represented in supporting the brotherly Palestinian people until they obtain their full rights and establish their state and its capital in East Jerusalem, supporting them in confronting the occupation and their struggle to lift the siege on their cities and villages, and supporting them financially and morally to alleviate the difficult conditions they live in.
The Speaker of the Shura Council chaired the delegation of the State of Qatar to the 4th Arab Parliament Conference, which was held at the Arab League headquarters on Saturday under the title “The Role of Parliamentarians in Achieving Security and Stability in the Arab world”.
Addressing the conference, the Speaker of the Shura Council said that the region will not enjoy security and stability as long as the Palestinian people do not regain their rights, and the injustice, occupation and racism are lifted.
In this context, he indicated that all Arabs aspire to the development and progress of the Arab world, and its liberation from all restrictions. This will only be accomplished if security and stability are achieved, and appropriate conditions are provided for growth and progress by eliminating poverty and deprivation, strengthening the Arab solidarity and intensifying efforts and recruiting all energies to support the just causes of the nation, foremost of which is the cause of the brotherly Palestinian people.
He drew attention to the struggle of the Palestinian people to liberate their land and establish their independent state on all their occupied lands, with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Plan and in implementation of the resolutions of the Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly and other relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
The Shura Council Speaker reiterated the Arab joint position in solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people in their just struggle, which condemns all criminal acts committed by Israel against the peaceful Palestinian people, in a flagrant violation of all international resolutions and agreements; calling on the international community to assume its responsibility, find international protection for innocent Palestinians and work to lift the inhumane siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.
The Speaker of the Shura Council called for mobilizing efforts and energies for reconstruction in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, stressing the need for the international community to bear its responsibility in addressing the poor social conditions experienced by most of the Palestinian people, and enabling the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to carrying out its humanitarian tasks and providing it with the financial capabilities necessary for that.
He stressed the important and fateful role of parliamentarians in achieving the renaissance and development of the Arab world, and providing all means of decent living for its citizens, noting that this goal will only be achieved through solidarity and concerted efforts, rejecting differences and resolving them, strengthening unity and unifying ranks to confront the two main enemies of the Arab nation, namely occupation and backwardness.
