As part of the ongoing National Day celebrations, Al Wakrah Sports Club yesterday hosted several activities performed by some Asian communities and private schools.
Activities included shows by scout teams, community march competitions, students’ cultural competitions, Pakistani band performances. In addition, the event also included shows of awareness films and health awareness programmes including free test of sugar for the public. The programme also included distribution of gifts to the public through raffle draws.
Members of Pakistan community in Qatar along with many other Asian communities and students from different schools started gathering at the sport club from 2pm to mark Qatar’s National Day and express their love and gratitude to Qatar and its leadership.
The Pakistani band presented shows inspired form the Pakistani cultural heritage.
The celebration started with performance of Qatar’s national anthem and the march of students carrying Qatari flag, models featuring milestones of the State of Qatar including towers, historical sites, World Cup 2022 and Oryx.
First Lieutenant Fadul Al Saadi, community police officer at the South Security Department of the Ministry of Interior said: Al Wakarah City has hosted pleasant National Day celebration presented by members of the Pakistani community and several Asian schools. The success of this celebration is outcome of the close coordination and cooperation between the members of these communities and the MOI, Al Saadi added. There is security plan to assure safe and smooth movement of people and traffic while entering and leaving the stadium, said First Lieutenant, Fahad Majid Al Qahtani, from the South Security Department. He also pointed out that a number of security members were deployed in the area to guide and help people and 15 points were set for this purpose as majority of the participants were from families.
The National Day of Qatar is excellent moment where different communities share their loves to Qatar and its people, said Jenan Fadul Abdulmannan, representative of the Pakistan Community, adding that Pakistani community members were keen to take part in this dear occasion.
The schools that participated in the event were Pakistan International School, Bangladesh School, Bhavan’s Public School, TNG School, Delhi Private School and Noble International School.
