Doha: The 14th Arab Shooting Championship kicked off yesterday at the Losail Shooting range with a colourful ceremony.
Duaij Khalaf Al Otaibi, President of the Arab Shooting Association declared the championship open in the presence of Ali Mohammed Al Kuwari, President of Qatar Shooting and Archery Association and Majid Al Nuaimi, Championship Director and Secretary-General of QSAA.
Over 200 shooters from ten countries, including hosts Qatar will be seen in action in the eight -day event. The prestigious event, features men, women, junior men and women, youth men and women. Hosts Qatar are taking part with around 35 shooters in pistol, air rifle and shotgun events.
Besides Qatar, other participating countries include Sudan, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Oman, Palestine and Morocco. The championship will conclude on November 24 with the Double Trap (Men), 10m Air Pistol (Junior Women & Youth Men) and 10m Mixed Team (Youth Men and Women) events.
