The Qatari Businessmen Association(QBA) hosted Guillaume Barazzone, the Mayor of city of Geneva and his accompanying delegation in the presence of HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani, Minister of Economy and Commerce and discussed the economic cooperation between the two countries
Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatari Businessmen Association, Hussein Al Fardan, QBA First Deputy Chairman; QBA board member Sheikh Hamad bin Faisal Al Thani and QBA members Maqbool Khalfan and Nabil Abu Eissa; and QBA Deputy General Manager Sarah Abdallah were among others who attended the event.
The Mayor said bilateral relations between Qatar and Switzerland will continue to grow due to the mutual interest of both countries in boosting relations and achieving a privileged partnership, which both parties started working on since the inauguration of the Swiss Embassy in Doha in 2013. The Mayor also introduced the Swiss delegation members and those represented different sectors in the delegation.
Earlier, Sheikh Faisal welcomed the Mayor of Geneva and his accompanying delegation. He stressed on the potential of bilateral cooperation in the areas of financial services and technology transfer. Sheikh Faisal also expressed the QBA’s interests in exploring the opportunities for partnership with the Swiss side, especially in light of the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and EFTA Association, which includes Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
The QBA officials and the Mayor discussed the potential investment opportunities in both the countries. Guillaume Barazzone extended invitation to Sheikh Faisal and the members of the Qatari Businessmen Association to visit Geneva for further discussing the partnership opportunities.
