Champion driver Nasser Al Attiyah and his navigator Matheu in action during the opening day of the Cyprus Rally, yesterday.
The three-time Dakar Rally champion who is targeting his seventh title win in Cyprus, ended the day with a huge lead of 12 minutes and 29 seconds.
Al Attiyah, who is targeting his 16th Middle East Rally Championship with a victory in Cyprus today, won three out of six stages on the opening day. Savvas Savva and Andrea Papandreou finished second while Panagiotis Yiangou and Panagiotis Kyriakou were placed third overall.
The Cyprus Rally ends today with four special stages and the Eneos Super Special Stage which will take place at the Achna speedway this afternoon.
