Minister: Qatar backs sports integrity efforts

Doha: Minister of Youth and Sports H E Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser Al Ali said Qatar supports international efforts towards sports integrity and transparency issues.
Al Ali made the remarks during at the closing session of Unesco Technical Meeting 2015 was organised by the UN agency in Qatar, in collaboration with International Centre for Sports (ICSS) to follow up on Declaration of Berlin, adopted in 2013 by the 5th World Conference of Sport Ministers (MINEPS V). 
He stressed that the government of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, is ready to cooperate and provide support and assistance for the success of the event, which aims to eliminate corruption in the world of sports.
The Minister said: “We have a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of Qatar hosting soccer’s World Cup in 2022 as the world will reap a great legacy after the end of the World Cup.
“We must work together as a team with experts and specialists to push for integrity and transparency standards and upgrade value of sport and its march in all countries. 
Mohammed Al Henzab, President, ICSS, stressed that the fight against corruption, organised crime and match-fixing was transformed from marginalised issues to top agendas and priorities of international organisations and institutions, thanks to ICSS efforts over the past years.
