Doha: The Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation (QBSF) team won the Round 2 of the Nero Bianco (NB) Snooker Challenge Series defeating Nero Bianco team 4-3 in an exciting one-day challenge at QBSF Hall on Monday.
The tournament, organised by QBSF, played on the 15-red format, best-of-seven, adopted a five-a-side match format.
Two teams Nero Bianco and QBSF, consisting of six players took part.
QBSF won the first round of the tournament held in June.
The tournament which is played in a series format willbe held at least 12 times a year.
The winning team will get QR4,000, the runner’s up QR1,500 and the highest break winner will get QR500.
The QBSF team started on a winning note with coach Mike Russel overcoming Sajan Bopanna. Russel, the pro-billiards player was off to a shaky start but gathered momentum to beat Bopanna by a comfortable margin.
In another match, Ahmed Saif of QBSF beat Shahid 4-2.
The Nero Bianco team tasted success when Rory McLeod beat Frank Gumbrell 4-1. QBSF players won the next two matches.
