DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality participated in the International Conference on Innovation and Fisheries Science, held in the People’s Republic of China from July 17 to 18, 2025. The Qatari delegation was headed by Director of Fish Affairs Department at the Ministry of Municipality Abdulaziz Al-Dehaimi.
The conference focused on the importance of scientific and industrial innovation and the use of advanced technologies in fisheries and aquaculture. Participants highlighted the role of these innovations in developing the sector sustainably and in an environmentally friendly manner.
Key topics included global progress in aquaculture and fisheries, the significance of international trade, and the importance of global cooperation in combating overfishing and advancing fisheries research. The conference also addressed the need to strengthen scientific innovation, enhance value chains, and protect marine ecosystems to meet future challenges and build global partnerships aimed at ensuring a sustainable future free from hunger and poverty.
On the sidelines of the event, a cooperation agreement was signed between Qatar’s Fisheries Wealth Department at the Ministry of Municipality and the Chinese Academy of Fisheries Sciences. The agreement focuses on research collaboration in fisheries and aquaculture technologies. Abdulaziz Al-Dehaimi signed the agreement on behalf of the Qatari side.
