KARACHI: A university student from Pakistan studying in Brisbane, Australia, has been named a student ambassador, said a press release received on Friday.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk announced 23-year-old Rajesh Kumar as one of the 2014 Brisbane International Student Ambassadors.
“We now have 36 new advocates from 34 countries. They will use social media to spread the word on why Brisbane is increasingly the city of choice for international students,” said Quirk at the City Hall ceremony.
Punjab jails to have jammers
LAHORE: The government in Pakistan’s Punjab province has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Radio Telecommunication Corporation for installing mobile phone jammers in 14 jails in the province.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Inspector General Prisons Farooq Nazir and the director of the corporation. Prisons Minister Waheed Arain, Special Secretary Home Shoaib Ahmed and Additional Secretary Amir Jan were also present.
The minister and the inspector general said the jammers would help curb illegal use of mobile phones in jails in the province. Internews
