DOHA: Katara Hospitality, a global hotel owner, developer and operator based in Qatar, announced that all tenants of its hotels in Qatar including restaurants and retail shops are exempt from rent for a period of three months. The announcement is a big relief for its tenants who are facing a challenging situation due to the current public health scenario.
“In line with the directives of His Highness the Amir and in compliance with Katara Hospitality corporate social responsibility, Katara Hospitality announces that all tenants of its hotels in Qatar including restaurants and retail shops are exempt from rent for a period of three months effective immediately,” said Katara Hospitality in a statement issued yesterday.
In the last few days, many establishments have come forward either postponing or exempting rent for its commercial units. Ezdan Mall on Tuesday said it was exempting all retailers at Ezdan Mall Gharaffa, Ezdan Mall Al Wakra and Ezdan Mall Al Wukair from rental obligations of March, April, and May. Barwa Real Estate has postponed rent payment by three months with effect from April, Msheireb Properties and Katara have exempted commercial outlets from rent and service bills from March 15 till further notice.
