Al Sada hosts reception for new GECF chief

DOHA: Minister of Energy and Industry, H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, held a high-level reception in honour of Yury Sentyurin, the new Secretary-General of the Doha-based Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) yesterday at Sheraton Hotel, Doha.
Top industry leaders in the energy sector attended the reception, including Qatar Petroleum President and CEO, Saad Sherida Al Kaabi; Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Qatar’s former Minister of Energy and Industry; Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari, President of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kharamaa); Khalid bin Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, and Nasser Jaidah, CEO of Qatar Petroleum International.
Also in attendance were Issa Ghanim, Director of Strategic Planning and Policy, Qatar Petroleum; Fahad Hamad Al Mohannadi, General Manager, Qatar Electricity Water Company (QEWC); and Taieb Belmahdi, Senior Advisor Gas, Office of the Minister of Energy and Industry.
During the reception, their Excellencies congratulated Yury Sentyurin on his appointment as GECF Secretary-General and reiterated continued support to the GECF and the Secretary-General during his tenure.
On his part, Yury, thanked their Excellencies for their hospitality and informed them of his commitment to the mission and objectives of the Forum and plans to work closely with top energy leaders in Qatar to further strengthen the position of GECF as an international governmental organisation which provides the framework for exchanging experience and information among member countries.
