Doha: Young racing talent in Qatar is rising through the ranks at events held at Losail International Circuit (LIC), a top motoring official said.

Khalid Al Remaihi (pictured), Vice-President of the Losail Circuit Sports Club (LCSC) and General Manager of LIC, said young riders featuring in the Qatar 600 Series Superstock Championship is a perfect platform to nurture riders for the future.

Al Remaihi said young Qatari rider Hassan Mansoori was the surprise pick of the second round of the QTSK where he managed to occupy the third place in both of the races. He said Mansoori is showing good talent at a young age.

The LCSC official said he was impressed to see the improvement in Abdullah Al Qubaisi’s performances over the last two years.

Al Remaihi said the youngsters are also learning by competing against experienced riders like Saeed Al Sulaiti and Mashel Al Naimi who also happen to be arch-rivals in the fiercely contested championship.

“We are also happy to see riders from neighbouring countries flocking to our championship. We regularly host Kuwaiti riders and one of the big names is Mohammed Al Zaidan,” Al Remaihi said after round two of the QTSK held over the weekend at LIC.

Qatar’s Jassim Al Thani dominated the races of the second round.

Al Remaihi said that the second round of the tournament witnessed great competition and high technical levels from the riders.

“Improvement from the riders shows that they are rising in the technical sense and that’s important for them and good to see,” Al Remaihi said.

He also said the championship is witnessing great cooperation among all stakeholders including the riders, technical staff, the sponsors and the volunteers at the LIC.

The LCSC official praised Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) under the chairmanship of Abdulrahman Al Mannai for their support of the event.
