DOHA:  H E Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Commerce and Industry, held a number of separate meetings on the sidelines of the 18th Doha Forum. Al Kuwari held talks with Dr. Tariq Mohammad Hammouri, Jordan’s Minister of Industry, Trade And Supply, Pablo Campana, Ecuador’s Minister of Commerce, and Gamal Mohamed Hassan, Somalia’s Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development.

The Minister also met with Dr. Volker Trier, Deputy CEO of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Sigmar Gabriel, Vice-Chancellor of Germany , former Minister of Foreign Affairs and a member of Germany’s Federal Parliament, Christian Sewing, CEO of Deutsche Bank, Ashok Aram, CEO of Europe, Middle East and Africa at Deutsche Bank, and Lois Labrianidis, Secretary-General for Strategic and Private Investments at the Greek Ministry of Economy and Development.

Discussions touched on the promotion of bilateral relations and the development of joint cooperation, particularly in the fields of trade, investment and industry. Developments that the Qatari economy has witnessed over the past years were also discussed.

Al Kuwari outlined the investment opportunities that Qatar offers across various sectors, as well as the legislations adopted by the State and the initiatives launched to support the private sector, which will bolster foreign direct investments and attract a growing number of foreign companies to the Qatari market. The meetings also touched on measures to boost bilateral trade and investments as well as cooperation prospects across a number of fields.

Discussions also focused on the importance of exchanging visits between businessmen and encouraging cooperation between government agencies and the private sector to achieve common interests.
