Doha: Qatar’s healthcare system is one of the best in the world as a result of government’s strong commitment toward developing the country’s social sector, especially the healthcare industry, which has created the foundations and favourable environment to attract private investments in the medical industry, noted a senior official of Qatar Chamber (QC) at an event recently.
Ibtihaj Al Ahmadani, a member of the Board of Directors at QC and President of Health Committee at the Chamber, highlighted the efforts exerted by the country for developing the health sector, noting that Qatar’s health system ranked advanced places in the world affirming that the current year saw the launch of the 10th college at Qatar University, which is Dental Medicine College to offer the Qatar society with distinguished medical dentists.
Al Ahmadani, addressing at the opening of ‘The International Conference of Aesthetic Dentistry, Laser and Dental Implants iLED 2019 on Friday, said that Qatari government exerted tireless efforts to develop the health sector through allocating appropriate and large budgets in the country public budget every year, she said.
Organized for the first time in Qatar, the event was held under the patronage of Sheikh Dr Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani, Director of Public Health.
She added that in Qatar budget 2019, about QR22.7bn was allocated for the healthcare sector, representing 11 percent of the total expenditure. Major projects to improve health care services included expansions in Hamad Medical Corporation facilities, national laboratories premises as well as the establishment of new health centres in the country.
Al Ahmadani stressed the role played by the Chamber in developing the healthcare sector in the country, noting that it sought to enhance cooperation with concerned bodies to discuss issues related to the sector and remove all obstacles facing its development.
She also elaborated the role of the Health Committee at the Chamber in encouraging the private sector to invest in the medical sector with the aim to develop it in line with the National Vision 2030.
