Doha: The Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) has selected 28 Qataris to train under the seventh edition of its leading professional development and Qatarisation program Kawader, which kicked off in Doha recently. Under the programme’s Applied Learning phase, the 28 young and motivated Qataris were selected based on their skills and capabilities to take part in becoming future leaders of the financial services sector in Qatar.

Members of the Kawader 2018-2019 Cohort started their training at leading partners and international financial institutions and firms, such as Qatar Financial Center Regulatory Authority (QFCRA), Qatar Financial Markets Authority, (QFCMA), Qatar National Bank (QNB), Qatar Exchange, PwC, and KPMG. In addition, some Applied learning placements were across internationally located institutions in London and Singapore.
The Kawader Applied learning module runs from October 27 – November 22, providing a hands on experience tailored to develop the participants skills to tackle a real market environment, refine their talent and capabilities and strengthen their acquired knowledge to ensure its practicality in fields such as auditing, finance, business management, procurement, compliance, risk management and credit analysis. Through acquiring these skills across various sectors within the financial landscape, Kawader graduates are supported with the knowledge and skills to grow in their chosen fields upon graduation. The graduation ceremony is expected to take place in February 2020 once students complete all courses requirements.
On this occasion, QFBA CEO Dr Khalid Al Horr, said: “We are proud to be a part of the Kawader professional development and training program, facilitating young Qatari professionals to gain practical on-ground experience through our local and international partners. We are actively paving the way for our Kawader cohorts to become key actors in Qatar’s financial services sector. Our work with young local professionals allows them to become better equipped to further advance their careers and contribute to diversifying Qatar’s economy, in line with our mission to work towards transforming the human development pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030 into a reality. It is very important that our programmes act as mechanism for driven professionals to keep up with rapidly changing developments, evolving financial market requirements and practices.”
Kawader is an innovative training and professional development program that differentiates itself by offering intensive and holistic training combining academic learning with practical, on-the-job training. The program is designed to train fresh Qatari graduates and young Qatari professionals in the early stage of their career towards accredited certifications to fast track their career progression and fuel their leadership development.
