The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in cooperation with various health sector establishments is running an awareness campaign to highlight the importance of infection prevention and infection control practices in healthcare facilities. The campaign that started on October 15 will last till October 19.
The Ministry of Public Health, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), is implementing the National Program for the Prevention and Control of Infection in the State of Qatar.
The programme is based on WHO’s newly published guidelines on the basic components of infection prevention and control programmes at the health facilities level.
Deputy-Director of Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety at the Ministry of Public Health, Huda Amer Al Kathiri, stressed the importance of the National Programme for the Prevention and Control of Infection, which aims to establish and strengthen a comprehensive national approach to the prevention and control of communicable diseases.
She explained that the programme comes within the framework of the continuous efforts of the Ministry of Public Health in cooperation with health sector establishments in working to apply the highest standards of quality and safety of health services in order to ensure access to the best results for each patient individually and the community in general.
Al Kathiri pointed out that the national anti-infection week, which is being held by the Ministry of Public Health from 15 to 19 October, in cooperation with various health sector establishments, is an awareness campaign to highlight the importance of infection prevention and infection control practices in healthcare facilities to maintain patient safety and educate workers in health facilities to prevent the spread of infection.
