QSE index closes at 9,447.88 points

DOHA: Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) benchmark index lost 438.98 points, or 4.44 percent, last week when the bourse closed yesterday at 9,447.88 points.

Trading value during last week decreased by 32.20 percent to reach QR 687,807,538.72 compared to QR1.01bn.

Trading volume decreased by 40.36 percent to reach 22.77 million shares, as against 38.18 million shares, while the number of transactions fell by 20.46 percent, to reach 14,691 transactions as compared to 18,470 transactions.

Market cap fell by 5.04 percent to reach QR519.46bn as compared to QR547.04bn at the end of previous week, reports QNA.

Banking and Financial Services sector led traded value last week with 49.07 percent of the total traded value. Industries sector accounted for 18.28 percent. Real Estate sector accounted for 10.04 percent and Transportation sector accounted for 8.46 percent.

Real Estate sector led traded volume last week with 26.79 percent of the total traded volume. Banking and Financial Services sector accounted for 26.54 percent. Industries sector accounted for 15.98 percent and Telecoms sector accounted 13.26 percent.

Banking and Financial Services sector led traded number of transactions last week with 33.97 percent of the total number of transactions. Industries sector accounted for 26.27 percent. Real Estate sector accounted for 16.12 percent and Transportation sector accounted for 8.20 percent.

From the 45 listed companies three ended last week higher, while 39 fell and three remained unchanged.

QNB led traded value last week accounted for 24.49 percent of the total traded value. Industries Qatar accounted for 9.17 percent and Qatar Islamic Bank accounted for 8.93 percent.

When compared on daily basis, the QSE index dropped 144.35 points, or 1.5 percent, yesterday compared to Wednesday’s closing. The volume of shares traded increased to 5.55 million from 3.58 million on Wednesday and the value of shares also increased to QR161.28m from QR100.68m on Wednesday.
