Doha: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani held a phone call on Sunday with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic HE Republic of Iran Abbas Araghchi.
The call discussed efforts to achieve peace and enhance security and stability in the region.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated the State of Qatar's full support for the ongoing efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement to end the crisis, stressing the need for all parties to respond to these efforts in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable peace and the desired stability in the region.
His Excellency stressed that freedom of navigation is a well-established principle that must not be compromised, and that closing the Strait of Hormuz or using it as a pressure card would only lead to deepening the crisis and exposing the vital interests of the region's countries to danger.
His Excellency underscored the importance of adhering to the rules of international law and the principles of good neighborliness, and prioritize the interests of the region and its people, in order to contribute to strengthening regional and international security and stability, and to support efforts to de-escalate tensions.
