DJWE displayed precious items worth QR18.5bn

Doha: The General Authority of Customs announced that 18th Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition has showcased precious items worth QR18,528,063,748. This includes the precious items received from outside the country under the temporary customs entry system and those came from the local market.

Director of the Air Cargo and Private Airports Customs Department and Head of the Customs Work Team at the exhibition Ahmed Yousef Al Khanji, said that the value of the exhibits from the local market amounted to QR1,592,877,098. Al Khanji said that the number of customs declarations completed by the authority during the exhibition period amounted to 283, which come under the category (temporary entry).

Al Khanji pointed that the customs duties were collected on the pieces sold only at the end of the exhibition, and the daily sales were deducted from the original invoice on the same day or the day following the sale to save time and effort on customs and exhibitors when re-exporting the remaining jewellery and watches.
