Doha: The Ministry of Culture, represented by Qatar Voluntary Center, and the Points of Lights organisation signed yesterday a joint cooperation agreement to establish the “Qatar’s Point of Light Award”. It was signed in the presence of Minister of Culture H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad bin Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Chairman of the Points of Lights, Neil Bush.
The agreement was signed by Director of Qatar Voluntary Center Moeed Al Qahtani, and President and CEO of the Points of Lights Natalye Paquin.
The agreement provides for the joint commitment of Qatar Voluntary Center and the Points of Light to inspire, support and mobilise individuals to adopt actions that change the world.
Both institutions will work to create opportunity for everyone in the society to act and accelerate change within their communities and around the world.
The agreement aims to establish Qatar’s Point of Light Award in accordance with the principles and standards followed by both parties in order to honour volunteers.
When implementing the Point of Light Award in Qatar programme, Qatar Voluntary Center must implement the conditions, the mechanisms for implementing the programme and the timetable for implementing and ending the programme within the State of Qatar, based on the standards of the Points of Light foundation and the daily British Prime Minister’s Points of Light programme.
Qatar Voluntary Center will manage the programme and provide the systems and infrastructure necessary to manage the nomination and evaluation process, provided that all rights resulting from the implementation of Qatar’s Point of Light Award are owned by the Qatar Voluntary Center.
