Prices of vegetables in the central market increased seven percent last month compared to the corresponding month of last year. However, the prices fell by five percent last month compared to February this year.
The items that saw price hike are tomato, garlic, Kusa, cucumber and ginger. Prices of cauliflower and cabbage fell and that of other vegetables were stable, said the monthly report for March issued by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
Prices of fruits declined by five percent last month compared to the corresponding month last year.
The prices increased three percent in March compared to February this year.
Prices of fish declined 12 percent in March last year compared to the same period this year. However, when compared to February this year, the price fall was recorded only three percent last month.
