Its been just over a year after the innovative and intuitive education platform started its operation in Qatar in September 2015; However, in a shorter period this fastest and trouble free online platform, Modaris.me, has become an intimate study partner of students across Qatar by providing them with the best teachers and trainers for teaching assistance in respective subjects.
This leading platform that links students to tutors and trainers has over 1,000 students a month from all over the country.
There is no wonder that this online platform has recently won first prize in the most innovative startup in QITCOM 2017. It competed in Innovation Theatre QITCOM 2017, with as many as 42 other contestants.
Modaris.me has helped over 500 students so far to pass and excel in their subjects for different academic levels.
Modaris.me offers one-on-one help for students with their different subjects, as well as offering training for skills like programming, fine arts, and even makeup.
This innovative platform is the brainchild of Yasmin Kassem, Co-Founder, Manager Marketing and Operations at Modaris.me, and Haitham Al Haidari, Co-Founder, Manager Business Development at Modaris.me. These young Yemenis got engaged and were thinking of something new and innovative that benefits the society. Thus developed this idea and it mushroomed in this short period.
Talking to The Peninsula, Yasmin Kassem, said: “Modaris.me offers a wide range of subjects starting from secondary school, University and Standardized tests. Secondary School courses include IGCSE, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. University courses include Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Programming, writing, Engineering and Business. Standardized tests include SAT Math, IELS,ACT and GRE. They offer language learning courses which include Arabic, French and English.”
Discussing about the different tutors available she said: “Nayab Malik, Journalism Senior at Northwestern University is willing to teach IGCSE English, Essay Writing and IELTS at QR170 per hour. Where as many more tutors like Elsherif Mahmoud charges QR250 per hour, who graduated from Texas A&M University in Qatar the subjects he offers to students are, IB - Physics, Math, Arabic, Electrical Engineering Courses, Modern Physics, Math, MATLAB Calculus.”
Modaris.me is on a mission to develop an innovative, intuitive platform that enables students to learn faster, and more effectively through talented tutors and trainers.
Haitham Al Haidari says Modaris in Arabic means ‘Teacher’ and they have chosen an Arabic friendly name for this platform.
“Our 90% of the students are Qataris. All our tutors are based in Doha and most of them are recently graduated from universities in Doha.”
Its female tutors teach female Qatari students and they have 40% female tutors and 60% male tutors.
“We currently have 40 tutors in total online and offline.”
Discussing about the fee structure Haidari said: “Tutors have their fixed rates but then if any student can’t afford the given amount by the tutor we definitely help them to bring down the price. As the tutors charge per hour most of the students do not find Modaris.me that expensive.”
Modaris.me focuses on skills as well. Skills include classes like makeup, photoshop, music, photography, fine arts and programming.
“Mathematics and science are the two subjects that students demand the most and Programming is one of the most popular skill at Modaris.me. students who excel in exams leave comments and reviews on teachers profile. We even keep a check on their hours, if the tutor does not give the time that he promised we accommodate the teacher on weekends for an hour,” said Yasmin.
Yasmin also informed that Modaris.me is going to launch their app in July for Android and iOS users to make it easier to access Modaris.me.
“The App will help students to book home tutors anywhere and whenever they want. Modaris.me has an interesting part named ‘Writing’ where the editors help you edit and proofread papers, essays, assignments and resumes.”
“They correct grammar, punctuation and spelling mistakes. They also assist with paraphrasing and word-choice. These editors are native speakers of English.
As soon as we receive your paper, one of our editors will be in contact you. Modaris.me tutors do not write papers on your behalf. They simply provide feedback on content and help with editing and formatting papers,” she added.
