Doha: The Qatar Equestrian and Modern Pentathlon Federation (QE&MPF) will conduct the second edition of the Al Nashaab Championship (horseback archery competition) at the Longines Outdoor Arena of Al Shaqab from 6pm today.
The popular and eye-catching championship will see competitions for the youth and men’s categories in the chain system and the pole-throwing system.
The tournament will also include a show of picking pegs by the Lekhwiya riders and a presentation by the Hungarian horseback world champion Kasai Layos.
More than 16 riders will participate in the tournament sponsored by Al Mardia Trading and Agriculture Company, the (platinum) sponsor, Fursan Al Ramy Center (golden sponsor), Great Realty Company and Al Qalayel Center (silver sponsors).
The organising committee of the championship is chaired by Sheikh Ahmed bin Noah Al Thani, Ali Al Rumaihi as the President, Ahmed Al Badi as the Director of the championship, and Fouad Al Madhahka as head of the judging committee.
The championship in its first edition in 2021 had witnessed a strong competition between the participants where Badr Mubarak Al Marri emerged as champion in the men’s category on horse Mukhlas, while Abdulaziz Al Qahtani and Ali Al Kuwari finished second and third respectively.
In the youth category, Abdullah Al Jumaili topped the competition astride Fajr while Abdul Rahman Al Hajri was second and Muhammad Al Jumaili third.
