Doha: Qatar Chamber’s Food Security and Environment Committee held a meeting with chairs of its subsidiaries in the presence of many representatives of governmental bodies. The meeting was presided over by QC Board Member Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli.
The attendees of the meeting praised the role played by government in dealing with the current crisis and measures adopted to curb the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
On his part, addressing the meeting Al Obaidli hailed the state’s efforts and precautionary measures taken to beat the virus. He noted that these actions demonstrates the solidarity and fruitful cooperation of all bodies against crisis.
He praised the government’s announcement on economic and financial incentives issued for enhancing the national economy.
‘The agricultural sector played a key role in the ongoing circumstances by providing commodities and services in the local market,’ he noted.
Al Obaidli pointed out that the private sector is fully prepared to strongly contribute to the economic diversification and help in facing the current crisis, noting that it has obtained a significant expertise in facing crisis throughout its experience during the siege.
QC Board Member also stressed that the committee is in open meeting, especially that there is continuous and permanent meetings with producers and suppliers of foodstuffs.
‘The committee is ready to receive all inquiries and proposals from investors and suppliers of food products in order to find prompt solutions,’ he added, noting that it addresses all issues related to streamlining the flow of food products to the market smoothly and continuously, whether through the local product or through import from abroad.
He said that the private sector showed high efficiency during the crisis, affirming that all commodities and products are available without any shortage or corruption.
The meeting discussed the importance of issuing a law that supports agricultural sector and production through infrastructure and warehousing.
