QSE index closes at 10,214.19 points

DOHA: Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) benchmark index dropped 153.98 points, or 1.49 percent, last week when the bourse closed yesterday at 10,214.19 points.

Trading value during last week increased by 5.88 percent to reach QR1.17bn compared to QR1.10bn on previous week’s closing.

Trading volume decreased by 7.53 percent to reach 26.98 million shares, as against 29.17 million shares, while the number of transactions fell by 0.70 percent, to reach 19,833 transactions as compared to 19,972 transactions.

Market cap fell by 0.83 percent to reach QR576.62bn as compared to QR581.45bn at the end of previous week.

The Consumer Goods and Services sector led trading value during last week 32.22 percent of the total trading value, followed by Banks and Financial Services sector, which accounted for 30.03 percent. The Real Estate sector accounted for 14.72 percent, and Industrials sector, which accounted 13.43 percent.

The Banks and Financial Services sector led trading volume during last week with 33.24 percent of the total trading volume. Real Estate sector, which accounted for 25.07 percent. The Industrials sector accounted for 11.19 percent, and Consumer Goods and Services sector accounted for 9.48 percent, reports QNA.

The Banking and Financial Services sector led trading number of transactions during last week with 31.33 percent of the total number of transactions. Consumer Goods and Services sector accounted for 20.92 percent.

The Real Estate sector accounted for 18.78 percent, and Industrials sector, which accounted for 15.20 percent. From the 45 companies, six ended last week higher, while 36 fell and three remained unchanged.

When compared on daily basis, the QSE index gained 15.11 points, 0.15 percent, yesterday compared to Wednesday’s closing. The volume of shares traded decreased to 5.83 million from 8.50 million on Wednesday and the value of shares increased to QR1.70bn from QR1.50bn on Wednesday.
