Doha, Qatar: Minister of Labour H E Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri yesterday conducted a series of high-level bilateral meetings with fellow ministers attending the 6th session of the Islamic Conference of Labour Ministers (ICLM), taking place in Doha on October 15–16 under the theme “Local Experiences, Global Achievements: Success Stories from the Islamic World.”
The conference brings together representatives from over 50 Islamic countries, alongside international and regional organisations, experts, academics, and civil society stak During the meetings, H E Dr. Al Marri engaged with H E Yassierli Siahswar Ahmad, Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia; H E Hind Kabawat, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour of the Syrian Arab Republic; H E Anar Aliyev, Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan; H E Mohammad Haydar, Minister of Labour of the Lebanese Republic; and H E Vedat Işıkhan (pictured), Minister of Labour and Social Security of the Republic of Türkiye.
The discussions centred on strengthening cooperation in the labour sector, exploring new avenues for partnership, and exchanging insights on the conference agenda. The ministers emphasised the 6th ICLM’s pivotal role in supporting the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s strategies to develop labour markets, promote employment, enhance social protection, advance skills development and capacity-building, and accelerate digital transformation across member states.
