The Qatar International Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA) at Qatar Chamber has signed an agreement with Excellence Center for Training and Consulting at Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, which aims to implement training programmes in law, trade and investment for individuals and companies during the academic year 2020-2021.
The agreement was signed by QICCA Board Member for International Relations Dr Sheikh Thani bin Ali Al Thani and Director of Excellence Center for Training and Consulting Dr Farid Al Sahn.
QC General Manager Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi and Dr. Abdulwahab Al Afandi, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies also attended the ceremony.
Commenting on the signing of the agreement, Al Sahn stressed the importance of signing this strategic partnership with QICCA because it is specialised in arbitration, negotiation and settlement of commercial disputes.
He also noted that the training programmes which will be offered by both sides will reflect the training needs of trainees in various training fields.
Al Sahn also expressed his hope to expand cooperation with the Qatar Chamber to serve its members and contribute to achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030 which focuses on human development for nationals and expats.
On his part, Al Sharqi expressed his thanks to the Institute for signing the agreement, noting that this is a beginning for more agreements between both sides.
He added that there is a possibility to create electronic linking between both agencies to enable the private sector to benefit from the programmes and training offered by the institute.
Sheikh Thani also reiterated that the agreement came in the frame of QICCA’s keenness on disseminating culture of arbitration and stilling skills of trainees, indicating that the aim of the agreement is to cooperate in organising training and professional programmes in various aspects such as arbitration.
He also said that these training courses aim to qualify legal and administrative trainees, in addition to law students, to enhance and meet the needs of the evolving Qatari labour market.
Sheikh Thani stressed the leading role played by QICCA in supplying the legal field with experts and arbitrators and the legal and technical skills necessary to manage legal cases.
“QICCA has qualified many arbitrators who have succeeded in resolving commercial disputes and providing correct legal consultations, as well as providing workshops and seminars related to various legal aspects that were well received by their attendees and participants,” he added.
Sheikh Thani also said that participants attending the training programmes will receive a certificate approved by QICCA and the Excellence Center for Training and Consulting.
