DOHA: Qatar’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) edged up 0.4 percent in June compared to the previous month and added 0.1 percent from a year ago, according to data released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS).
The MDPS numbers showed the consumer price index grew mainly in five groups on month-on-month. They include ‘recreation and culture’ (2.3 percent), ‘food and beverages (0.7 percent), ‘transport’ (1.1 percent) and ‘miscellaneous goods and services’ (0.2 percent).
A decrease had just shown on ‘Clothing and Footwear’ and ‘Housing, Water, Electricity and Gas. ‘Tobacco’, ‘health’, ‘communication’, ‘education’ and ‘restaurants and hotels’ groups remained flat at the last months’ price levels. The ‘housing, water, electricity and other fuel’ group fell by 4.3 percent.
‘Transport’ had the highest positive contribution by 1100.0 percent, followed by ‘furniture and household equipment’, ‘health, ‘education’, ‘restaurants and hotels’. (2)
