Doha, Qatar: Minister of Commerce and Industry, H E Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani, will inaugurated the 12th Doha Islamic Finance Conference today (June 16, 2026) under
the theme ‘Islamic Finance in the Age of Agentic
Systems’.
Held under the patronage of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, and organised by Bait Al-Mashura Finance Consultations in strategic partnership with Dukhan Bank, the conference is supported by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) as Official Sponsor, the General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs as Diamond Sponsor, the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) as Gold Sponsor, and Damaan Islamic Insurance Company (Beema) as Bronze Sponsor.
Taking place at Al Majlis Hall at Sheraton Grand Doha, the event brings together representatives from government entities, international organisations, and financial and academic institutions specialising in economics, finance, and technology. Its outcomes are expected to contribute to the advancement of the Islamic finance industry in Qatar and beyond.
Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Vice Chairman of Bait Al-Mashura Finance Consultations, said: “The field of artificial intelligence (Al) has witnessed rapid developments, starting from simple algorithmic systems focused on automating routine tasks, progressing through interactive systems capable of processing information and making limited decisions within defined scopes, and culminating in intelligent systems capable of learning from data, analysing patterns, and adapting to environmental variables.
He added, "With the advancement of algorithms and increased computing power, Agentic Systems have emerged as an advanced stage that transcends the boundaries of traditional and generative Al, offering entities capable of performing independent roles such as decision-making, interacting with other systems, managing complex processes, and providing innovative solutions in dynamic environments with accuracy, autonomy, and efficiency.”
