KABUL: According to reports, the Afghan and Pakistani forces exchanged fire along the Durand line yesterday morning.
Preliminary reports suggest that the Pakistani forces have attacked a number of the Afghan check posts which spark clashes between the two sides as said in a statement. Local government officials confirmed the incident and said the clashes between the two sides broke out after Afghan border police forces stopped the Pakistani troops to create check posts inside the Afghan soil.
Provincial police spokesman Ahmad Zia Durani also confirmed that the Afghan security forces are on alert to respond to Pakistani forces fire.
Durani confirmed that a service member of the Afghan border police was killed during the clashes which started early yesterday. There are no reports regarding the casualties of the Pakistani security forces following the clashes. AGENCY
