Hijric month ‘Jumada I 1439H’ to begin on Thursday

DOHA: According to Astronomical calculations by Qatar Calendar House (QCH), the new crescent of the Hijric month “Jumada I 1439H” will be visible tomorrow at 5:18am.
We can note that the new crescent of Hijric month “Jumada I” will appear after sunset in Qatar and other Arabic countries’ sky today Rabia Thani 29 (January 16),” said Dr Beshir Marzouk, astronomer expert at QCH.
The time set of the moon over Doha sky today will be 4:39pm, while the sunset time will be at 5:06pm, i.e. Moon will be set before Sun by 27 minutes.  The time set of the moon will be before sunset over the sky of two holy mosques (Makkah & Madinah) and over all Gulf countries by 26 to 29 minutes).
The new crescent will be impossible to view with astronomical telescopes or naked eye over Qatar sky and all Arabic countries sky tonight; because it will bear after sunset time over Doha sky and all Arabic and Islamic countries sky, added Dr.Marzouk.
Consequently & according to astronomical calculations, the Hijric month “Rabia Thani 1439 H” will  end tomorrow, while the first day of “ Jumada I 1439 H” will be on Thursday January 18, 2018.
According to Qatar Calendar House, the Hijric calendar  is on the basis of Moon’s motion on orbit around Earth, while the Gregorian calendar depending on Earth’s motion on its orbit around the Sun.
