Al Suwaidi grabs top honour at Hathab

Doha: Salmeen Sultan Al Suwaidi riding Guilder’s Empire of the Sun stole the show in the 11th round of hugely popular Hathab Equestrian Tour with a convincing victory in Big Tour (130/140cm) yesterday at Souq Waqif Arena.

A tough competition was expected in the marquee event of the two-day penultimate round, but Al Suwaidi displayed a flawless run to win the QR30,000 event comfortably. He received the top prize of  QR7,500 after finishing the job in 36.38 seconds.  

Rashid Towaim Al Marri astride Beyonce was also impressive and clocked 38.29 to finish runner-up in the event, bagging a purse of QR6,000.

Cyrine Cherif riding Gerlin VD Waterkant completed the podium with a time of 44.68. Cherif got richer by QR4,500.   

Meanwhile, Mohammed Sultan Al Suwaidi riding Numero UNO - T won the 115/125cm after overcoming talented Awad Al Qahtani who impressed riding Gerenice of Colors.

Al Suwaidi took a time of 54.82 to win the competition and bagged QR3,750 from a total prize purse of QR15,000 allocated for the contest. Al Qahtani received QR3,000 while Hamad Nasser Al Qadi, who was riding Galwaybay Merbreaker took the third position for a price of QR2,250.

Jaber Rashid Al Amri (Belussi Van T Vleminkhof) and Ahmed Mohammed Al Badi (Wadi Rum DDH) finished the top five. The riders will now be up for the challenge on April 26-28 when the 12th round and final of the series takes place.
