Qatar-UK trade volume reaches $3bn in 2020

Doha: Minister of Commerce and Industry, H E Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, met yesterday with H E Lord Gerry Grimstone, UK Minister for Investment at the Department for International Trade and the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, who is currently visiting the country.

The meeting was attended by H E Simon Penney, Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for the Middle East. During the meeting, officials touched on the bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed aspects of joint cooperation, especially in the commercial, investment, and industrial fields, as well as ways to enhance and develop them. The volume of trade exchange between Qatar and the UK amounted to nearly $3bn in 2020, and the United Kingdom ranks as Qatar’s seventh trade partner. 

The meeting also featured a discussion of trade policies between the two countries, and the efforts exerted by both to confront the COVID-19 pandemic. 

During the meeting, the Minister of Commerce and Industry highlighted the economic policies that Qatar had adopted and the measures it had taken to abolish restrictions on foreign investment and create investment opportunities for companies looking to invest 
in Qatar.
