Al Shahaniya hold Al Ahli to goalless draw

Seventh-placed Al Shahaniya yesterday held hosts Al Ahli to a goalless draw in their QNB Stars League clash.

Al Ahli, currently in fifth spot on the points table, failed to add to their tally of 9 wins this season. Al Shahaniya, with 5 wins this season, have a tally of 21 points from 19 matches.

Both teams failed to score in the first half at Al Ahil Stadium but there was rough football was witnessed from players of the two teams. Al Ahli’s Ali Qadri was booked with a yellow in the 23rd minute.

In the next minute, referee showed a red card to Al Ahli’s Jhon Chancellor and expelled him from the round 19 clash.

Later, at Al Khor Stadium, a first-half strike helped Al Kharaitiyat power past Qatar SC. It was bottom-placed Al Kharaitiyat’s fourth win of the season while Qatar SC failed to add to their overall tally of 4 wins from 19 matches.

In the 7th minute of the round 19 clash, Valentin Marius Lazar opened the scoring for Al Kharaitiyat now coached by former Qatar national team star Wisam Rizq. Lazar curled one into the net after Qatar SC’s  Mohammed Ahmed Al Jabri headed a loopy cross to the unmarked Romanian midfielder.

Lazar, standing unmarked, clipped a curling shot into the left top of the goal as Al Kharaitiyat celebrated the plucky first half strike.
