Doha: Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) yesterday welcomed the French national swimming team, comprising 17 males and six female swimmers between the ages of 14-16, for a training camp in preparation for the upcoming FINA/HOSA Marathon Swim World Series 2018.

More than 122 swimmers representing 24 countries will take part in the upcoming World Series, which is due to take place on Saturday, on Doha’s Corniche.

Speaking about their visit, Stéphane Lecat, the manager of the visiting French team, praised AZF’s facilities and said the organisation is well-equipped to host international swimming teams.

As part of their training programme, the team will focus on technique and rehabilitation and plans to visit the Corniche on Friday to test Doha’s waters ahead of the competition.

Commenting on the French swimmers’ training camp, Ibrahim Hilal, Head of Events and National Teams at AZF, said: “AZF is committed to supporting all sporting events hosted in Doha, including visiting teams, which see this as one of their preferred destinations to prepare for major tournaments.

“This is all thanks to the comprehensive training facilities here, which offer integrated world-class facilities to visiting teams to allow them to exceed their training objectives.”

AZF and its affiliated organisations are perfectly placed to provide an integrated set of world-class sporting and medical services all in one place. These are a key contributor to AZF’s goal of becoming the reference in sports excellence worldwide by 2020.
