Doha: To mark Qatar National Sports Day, the British Embassy in Doha, yesterday hosted a ‘diplomatic sport day’.
Ambassadors and members from other diplomatic missions in the State of Qatar, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and South Korea took part in the event which was organised on the embassy’s premises. The event was filled with friendly competition and camaraderie as diplomats competed in various sporting events.
The British Ambassador to the State of Qatar, H E Jon Wilks CMG said, “The diplomatic sport day is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together and build relationships through friendly competition, in addition to promoting values such as teambuilding, inclusion and perseverance. Sport has a unique power to bring people together and we are proud to host this event at the British Embassy, celebrating the National Sport Day.”
“Sport is an important part of the relationship between the UK and Qatar, and our cooperation in the run-up and during the FIFA World Cup is a testament.”
Earlier yesterday, Ambassador Jon Wilks along with British Embassy staff joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Sports Day event at the Diplomatic Club.
