DOHA: The Commercial Registration and Licensing Department at Ministry of Economy and Commerce registered 1,227 new businesses and cancelled 225 in January 2016. The latest data by the ministry includes the registration of 878 main businesses or 72% of the total new commercial registrations, and 349 sub businesses or 28% of the total new commercial registrations in January.
The data also show the department cancelled that 225 businesses, including 55 main businesses and 170 sub businesses in January. Limited Liability Companies (LLC) topped the list with 448 main businesses and 111 sub businesses according to the nature of the business, representing 55 percent of the total main businesses and 32% of the sub businesses respectively for the month of January 2016. In the same month, the department registered 303 individual or one-person owned companies along with 217 in the sub-category, representing 35% of the total main businesses registrations and 62% of the total sub businesses respectively.
