Doha: Qatar Tennis Federation Junior Open Tournament (boys and girls) kicked off yesterday at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, with the participation of about 150 local and international players.
Both male and female players will compete in different age groups included in the tournament competitions, including boys U-14, 18 and 10, and girls U-12, 10 and 18.
Board member of Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation Khalid Al Khelaifi said in a comment that this prestigious tournament represents an opportunity for tennis lovers inside the country to participate in it and practice their favourite sport, as it constitutes a platform for Qatar national team players to develop their performance and maintain their technical and physical readiness.
Al Khelaifi added that the federation continues to organize this local tournament with the aim of increasing the popularity of the game in Qatar and spreading it among members of society, noting that the current edition of the tournament witnessed a great turnout by players to participate in it.
