Doha, Qatar: Under the patronage and in the presence of Qatar Chamber (QC) Chairman, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, the activities of the seventh edition of the GCC Businesswomen Forum kicked off in Doha yesterday, at the Mandarin Oriental – Msheireb.
The two-day event, held under the theme “Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Investment”, is organised by the Federation of Gulf Cooperation Council Chambers (FGCCC), in cooperation with the Qatar Chamber, and supported by the GCC General Secretariat, with QNB as the strategic partner.
The opening ceremony was attended by H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family; Sheikh Faisal Abdullah Al Rawas, President of the Federation of GCC Chambers; Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Secretary-General of the Federation of GCC Chambers; Dina Abdul Rahman Al Mudaires, General Manager of the General Administration of Project Management at the GCC General Secretariat; and Ibtihaj Al Ahmadani, Board Member of the Qatar Chamber and Chairperson of the Qatari Businesswomen Forum.
The event also saw the participation of several board members of the Qatar Chamber, a host of Qatari and Gulf businesswomen and businessmen, the wives of several ambassadors accredited to the State, along with a group of prominent economic and media figures.
Ibtihaj Al-Ahmadani, Member of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Chamber and Chairperson of the Qatari Businesswomen Forum, delivered the host country’s address, affirming that Qatar’s hosting of the forum reflects the wise leadership’s commitment to empowering women and enhancing their role in economic and social development. She highlighted that the forum focused on the importance of sustainable investment as a key approach adopted by Gulf businesswomen, combining economic growth with social responsibility, in line with the national development visions of GCC countries. For his part, Sheikh Faisal Abdullah Al Rawas, President of the Federation of GCC Chambers, commended the pivotal role of Gulf women in driving economic and social development across GCC countries.
During the opening session, the “Gulf Businesswomen Platform” was launched as one of the Federation’s key initiatives.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber, and Sheikh Faisal Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Federation of GCC Chambers, honoured the forum’s strategic partner, Qatar National Bank (QNB), where Maha Al Sulaiti received the shield of honour. They also recognised the media partner, Al Sharq newspaper, with Jaber Salem Al Harmi, Editor-in-Chief, receiving the shield of honour.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim and Sheikh Faisal Abdullah Al Rawas met with heads of delegations and businesswomen participating in the forum, in the presence of H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family.
