The Peninsula

It was a successful raid across the Channel for the 2-year-old filly Shadn (No Nay Never), who carries the colours of Al Rabban Racing, in the Critérium de Maisons-Laffitte (Gr2).

Settled in behind the front runners by jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot, she was quite keen in the early stages of this 6-furlong Group 2. She was courageous in the finish, digging deep to battle past the favourite Devil to win by a head.

Trained by Andrew Balding at Kingsclere (GB), Shadn came here following two third places at Group level. She was already a Listed winner.

Billy Jackson-Stops, manager of Al Rabban Racing, commented: “It’s great! This is a big moment for Abdulaziz Al Rabban! He is a young owner, and he loves racing. He currently has 6 horses, including yearlings. We bought for the first time in Book 1 at Tattersalls last week, and we should be back again for Book 2. Shadn is an extraordinary filly. Physically she’s not very impressive but she’s incredible: she gives it her all every time she runs: her heart is bigger than she is!”
