Students of Ideal Indian School (IIS) joined the world in celebrating 142nd birthday of Mohanchand Karamchand Gandhi, the father of independent India, as the International Day for Peace and Non-Violence.
In the junior section, a poster exhibition was organised on the occasion in which students depicted the life of Mahatma Gandhi. Students organised a procession through which they spread the message of Gandhi’s teaching of non-violence, truth and peaceful co-existence. The tiny tots of kindergarten painted the pictures of the Father of Nation. Speaking on the occasion Principal Syed Shoukath Ali urged the students to follow the path of non-violence through mutual cooperation and patience.
Department of Social Science organised a special function to commemorate the birth anniversary of the great apostle of peace. Songs and Skits depicting the moments of life and teaching of Mahatma Gandhi were presented.
In a special assembly held in the boys’ section, Vice Principal S Vidhyasanker asked the students to imbibe Gandhi’s doctrine of truth and non-violence. Anirudha Mondal of class XII, Alhaj Ashraf of class XI and Mohammed Faisal of class VIII provided the information on ‘Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign’ launched by India. Scouts of boys’ section participated in the ‘Clean the Campus’ programme.
