Doha: At the age of 48, Misbahul Haq still has a lot of firepower.

The former Pakistan captain hit a quick-fire 44 from just 19 deliveries to help Asia Lions thrash World Giants by 35 runs in a rain-reduced match at Legends League Cricket yesterday.

The match was cut to 10 overs per side because of delayed start due to wet outfield at Asian Town International Stadium after persistent light rain in Doha.

After Giants’ captain Aron Finch elected to field, the Lions scored a total of 99/3 with Misbah hitting three sixes and four boundaries in his blitz. Former Sri Lanka captain Tillakaratne Dilshan also made a valuable contribution, scoring 32 from 24 deliveries.

The Giants faltered in the run chase as they only managed 64/5 in stipulated overs with Lions captain Shahid Afridi and Abdur Razzaq grabbing two wickets each.

Chris Gayle was top scorer from the losing side with 23 from 16 balls.

It was second win for the Asian Lions after their win over India Maharajas in the tournament opener.
