Doha: An average traveler, whether a citizen, resident or visa holder, needs only a maximum of 40 seconds to complete the travel procedures using e-gates at Hamad International Airport, stated an official while talking about the ease of travel into Qatar.
Major Muhammad Mubarak Al-Buainain, Officer at the Airport Passports Department, stated this adding that the terminals at HIA are provided with electronic gates, with the liberty of using them, during departure and arrival, according to the traveller preference.
Major Al-Buainain was talking to Qatar Radio saying that one passenger takes between 30 to 40 seconds at the e-gate counter, and if it exceeds this period, this means that it needs more scrutiny or additional information.
He pointed out that all terminals at HIA are provided with e-gates which allows travellers to complete all travel procedures without the need for an interaction with a Passport Department employee.
When queried if a person using the electronic gate while leaving the country must use the same while entering, Major Al-Buainain said that the choice is left to the traveller according to their convenience, they can use the electronic gates or the regular counters.
Major Al-Buainain reminded travelers of the importance of arriving at the airport in sufficient time to complete all procedures with ease, to check that travel documents are valid, and to ensure that a passenger's passport validity is over six months.
