DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) yesterday celebrated the Qatar National Sport Day with incredible participation at its special events organized across the country.
This year, the events were held in Katara, the Aspire Academy and Othman Bin Affan and Yarmouk Schools. All the events drew people from different nationalities and age groups.
Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari, Director of Marketing and Communication, QFA, said that QFA’s participation in NSD activities was aimed at engaging community activities at all levels.
Al Kuwari said QFA President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani led the QFA’s participation in the MSD activities across the country.
QFA President also featured at a football match in which the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Special Adviser to the Amir, H H Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani joined FIFA President, Gianni Infantino at Aspire Academy yesterday.
The QFA yesterday organised many events in order to promote the concept of healthy living through sports and football in particular.
The QFA, in cooperation with Qatar Shell in Katara also organised events under the “Koora Time” community responsibility program, which has won numerous awards at the local and international levels.
This event witnessed the participation of more than 10,000 people from all age groups.
Sports activities conducted yesterday also involved competitions in billiards, goalkeeping, snorkeling, aerobics, fitness, table tennis, badminton, athletics and much more.
QFA also participated an activity called “Football Family” program in cooperation with the Higher Committee for Projects and Heritage and the Qatar Stars League.
A special schools activity saw Othman Bin Affan Boys Model School hosting a tournament on Monday. Football matches between Tamim Al Majd and Tamim Al Ezz were also played.
Commenting on the day’s events, Khaled Al Kuwari, Director of Marketing and Communication, QFA, said yesterday: “The many events we have organized in Katara, the Aspire Academy and the Qatari schools show our deep commitment to engage every member of the society towards playing sport. We would like to thank our supporters and the young families that turned up and our fans for their generous attendance.”
At the MIA Park, Qatar national team captain Hassan Al Haydos joined his team mates Amloez Ali, Abdul Karim Hassan, Bassam Al Rawi and retired players for a friendly match with fans.
