Doha: Ahmed Hassan Al Malki Al Jehani-owned Sir Min with Hugo Besnier in the saddle claimed a one-length victory to clinch the Al Waab Cup at Al Rayyan Racecourse yesterday.

The four-year-old gelding brought an end to Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club’s (QREC) 28th Race Meeting – comprising nine races – in style winning the feature after facing a tough challenge from Pockett Rockett, which was ridden by Giuseppe Cultraro.

Also excelling in the 1600m race was Band Width, led by Ronan Thomas, as the pair claimed third position in the Thoroughbred Handicap 75-95 (Class 3). 


The connection of Sir Min celebrate after the Ahmed Hassan Al Malki Al Jehani-owned gelding won the Al Waab Cup at Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club’s (QREC) 28th Race Meeting which took place at Al Rayyan Racecourse yesterday. 

Meanwhile, Irtiqaa completed a double for trainer Gassim Ghazali and jockey Marco Casamento after clinching the 1600m Local Thoroughbred Handicap 70-90 win following a stiff competition with Latamah, who had Szczepan Mazur in the saddle. 

Earlier, Fylde Coast bagged first win of the day for Ghazali and Casamento claiming a neck win in 1600m Thoroughbred Maiden Plate (Class 6).

In Thoroughbred Handicap 0-85, Ronan Thomas guided Thunder Cat to a head win over Wall Street Crash, helmed by Jefferson Smith, in the 1600m race. 
Yunus, Nadir, Kanakam, Nina Du Soleil and Vieux Carre also earned victories yesterday.
