Singapore: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs H E Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah participated yesterday in a dialogue session within the 19th Shangri-La Dialogue, which is taking place in the Republic of Singapore, entitled “Developing new models of security cooperation”.
In a speech at the session, His Excellency spoke about the most prominent sporting event of this year, which is the State of Qatar’s hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, emphasizing the impact of sport as a real source of diplomatic inspiration and teamwork.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs stressed the necessity of coordinating security cooperation by following a comprehensive approach and building the security capabilities of all countries instead of limiting them to some countries only, in order to achieve comprehensive and sustainable security.
He referred to the balanced and reliable political, economic and defence role of the State of Qatar at the global level that stems from the Qatar National Vision 2030, which focuses on serving the interests of global cohesion and peace. The Shangri-La Dialogue is a governmental security summit, held annually by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), with the participation of a large number of prime ministers, ministers and leaders in various fields.
