Doha: Jesualdo Ferreira was named the ‘Best Coach’ while Baghdad Bounedjah got the award for ‘Best Player’ as Al Sadd swept the QNB Stars League (QSL) honours for the months of November and December.

Under Ferreira, Al Sadd played five matches in weeks 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 and won all of them, collecting the full quota of 15 points.

The Wolves’ victories were against Umm Salal (5-1), Al Kharaitiyat (7-1), Al Arabi (3-0), Al Gharafa (8-1) and Al Shahania (4-1) in that order.

Al Sadd had also beaten Al Khor 2-1 in their rescheduled game from Week 5. It was played on 28th November.

Ferreira’s men scored 27 goals while conceding just four, with 56 shots on target and 13 against it.

According to STATS, the official statistics and figures provider for the QSL, Al Sadd made an average number of 663 passes, of which 588 were successful. Short passes numbered 429 and forward passes 201.

There were 18.8 crosses (7.2 from the left and 11.6 from the right). They also made 20 tackles and nine dribbles.

Meanwhile, star Bounedjah scored 10 goals and gave six assists in the five matches.

The two goals against Al Shahania helped Bounedjah become the Qatar league’s all-time top scorer in a single season as he took his personal tally to 28 goals.

The Algerian surpassed Brazilian striker Clemerson Soares’ record of 27 goals set in the 2007-08 season for Al Gharafa.
